Manpower

My searches on the Manpower website were pretty interesting. For Madison, some jobs that were listed were auditor, warehouse worker, engineering specialist, and general labor/ line worker. The majority of the jobs listed were temporary, while most of the ones that weren’t were based on contracts. The jobs were uninteresting to me, and seemed like most of them required specific previous skills. For example, the engineering specialist is obviously something that only certain people can apply to.
When I moved my search to South Salem, NY, I saw the same ratio of temporary to contract jobs. There was a little more variety in the jobs listed near my house at home because it listed a ton that were nearby instead of just in my town. Some of the jobs listed were warehouse inventory, electrician assistant, salon assistant, licensed CT state electrician, and on-call photography assistant. Once again, most of these jobs require very specific skills. However, maybe some, like the photography and salon assistant are more general and more in search of a friendly, intelligent person who will be able to offer some support.
Then, the last city I searched was Boston, MA. Some jobs listed here were forklift operator, HR recruiting assistant, associate sales executive, and accountant. Most of the jobs here were very business-y since it’s right in the city of Boston, whereas my town is very residential. The jobs were mostly contact based because a lot of them were for positions like accountant and sales reps. Some of the jobs looked good, however, they were all kind of the same. I felt that the site doesn’t have much variety in the types of jobs listed. For someone in need of money who also has a specific set of skills, this website could really help, but I don’t think I would ever use it after browsing through it.

Sofie,

With our madison searches yielding the same results, I agree that none of the jobs seemed very interesting to me. Also when I search my area from home(Westport, CT) I got some of the same job listings as you. For example the CT Electrician and Salon Assistant both came up for me. I also like that you searched Boston, MA because I have always thought it would be cool to work there for a couple of years. Nice job.
